Wolfgang Homola created the Soleil Font Family, which TypeTogether released. Soleil offers family packages and 14 different styles.
Wolfgang Homola created the geometric sans serif typeface Soleil. It has asymmetrical counters, which set it apart from the majority of geometric sans serif typefaces currently in use and give it a more modern, dynamic, and fresh appearance. Simple geometric shapes, like circles and squares, had some influence on the creation of the letterforms, but numerous optical corrections were required to add more fluidity to the rather rigid and stiff concept of geometric sans serif typefaces. The modernist principles of clarity, simplicity, and reduction to essential forms inform Soleil.
But rather than being the result of geometric construction, its letter shapes are the result of a design process that combines fluidity and simplicity, simplicity and rhythm. This typeface is very similar to the gentle soft serif font.
Since Soleil has a relatively high x-height, it can be read at a distance and in smaller print. Six weights of the typeface family are available. Additionally, the Opentype version supports the use of typographic elements like Small Caps, lining, proportional and old-style figures, ligatures, alternate characters, case-sensitive variants, and fractions. Numerous potential uses for Soleil include wayfinding and signage systems, book and magazine design, branding, and business publications.
